Ryou is the cousin of [Ritsuko Akizuki](https://anilist.co/character/6170), who has been a recurring character in the series. He is calm, soft, and all-around a cool and collected boy. In many ways, he is the opposite of his unnecessarily-harsh cousin. He carries an air of femininity, due to which he tends to be asked out by male classmates.

Deeply worried by his feminine image and hoping to become more popular with the girls, Ryou has been considering becoming an idol for a long time, but when he visits the 765 Production office to discuss this idea with his cousin Ritsuko, she appears skeptical towards his plans. However, she is prepared to introduce him to Manami Okamoto, a manager at 876 Production. Manami, in deep trouble because of an 876 idol having become unable to perform at a live that is about to take place, is glad to accept Ryou as a substitute. Much to his disturbance, he has to go on stage dressed as a girl.

765 Production Studio manages the unique talents of 13 professional idols as they slowly make their way to the top and become country-wide celebrities. But the girls' journey is far from just fun and games: hard work, sweat, and tears are some of the prerequisites needed to flourish in this industry—and for 765 Pro in particular, a watchful eye out for their rival, the infamous 961 Production.

As the girls' fame grows, however, their time together as a family diminishes, and now the very popularity they sought is threatening to tear them apart. A difficult balance of work and bonding must be achieved, or they risk everyone going their separate ways. The personal and professional ordeals of these idols can't be conquered alone, but with each other's loving support, any obstacle or hardship can be overcome!

Ryou has always had a problem with his feminine appearance. As a child he was often mistaken as a girl, and to his disappointment, that didn't change even after he got to high school. One day he came up with his best idea yet for gaining masculinity; he decided to become a male idol! 
His cousin Ritsuko worked in the idol industry, so she was able to get him an audition. Unfortunately for his master plan, the company decided that he would make a wonderful female idol. Now, to even have a chance at becoming a male idol, he must first become successful as a girl!

This manga adapts Eri's route from the game Idolm@ster Dearly Stars. 
Eri Mizutani,mostly known as ELLIE on Internet,is a hikikomori that spends most of her time chatting on the Internet with people that she hardly knows. 
One day she receives a message from a producer named Ozaki who encourages her to debut as a real idol. Eventually she is able to build up the courage to meet Ozaki.Then she makes her debut at the 876 productions. She meets Ai and Ryo there and decides to give up her life as a net idol and hikkikimori. Will Eri be succesful in the idols world?

Ai, wishing to become an idol as famous as her mother once was, has been participating in tests at various talent agencies, but she has failed every single one of them. Her inability to even begin to follow into her mother's footsteps becomes a complex to her. 
As Ai bursts into tears, alone in a public park, she is approached by 765 Production idol Haruka Amami, who was a special judge at one of the tests Ai has taken. Having sensed something special about Ai's singing, Haruka comforts her and introduces her to 876 Production's president Ishikawa. The president is very quick to invite Ai into 876, as she believes that her mother's name alone should be enough to propel Ai to the top. Ai protests, stating that she wants to become an idol using only her own strength. She is then given one chance to prove herself, at a rookie idol audition.
