Midori acts as a &quot;professional victim&quot; in a business that is run by her partner Adamas where anyone that can defeat her will win a reward. She was once a PK whose skill was so great even Sakaki and a band of over 20 followers were no match against her,but gave up PKing after many meetings with Adamas. However, she is more famously known as the first person to survive an attack from Tri-Edge(Azure Flame Kite) whom she wishes to meet again,but unlike Haseo she has no ill will towards him.     ~!In truth Midori does not exist offline,having originally been a virtual cell created from a sickly girl named Midori Shimomura who has an unknown illness that is slowly causing her body to shut down. When Midori was &quot;born&quot; she was able to escape into the network at some point and managed to enter The World unaware of her origins.!~

After the destruction of "The World" in 2015, CC Corporation rebuilt the game using data from what was previously to be another game. "The World R:2" was then released in 2016. A newcomer to the game, Haseo, is instantly PKed and then revived by a mysterious man known as Ovan. With the problem of PKs occupying the game, Haseo soon after receives help from a female Harvest known as Shino. Amidst curiosity and confusion, Haseo is lead to joining the guild known as the Twilight Brigade. The guild that searches for the legendary object known as the "Key of the Twilight". Set before the .hack//G.U. game.

The main premise of the story covers the happenings that Midori and Adamas witness and experience in The World R:2, an extremely popular MMORPG that is a new version of the original game, The World. Midori meets numerous characters from .hack//Roots (most notably Haseo,) and .hack//G.U. (such as Silabus and Gaspard.) The main plot centers around Midori selling herself out to would-be PKers, and some real-world events that center around the girl who also bears the name Midori who is in a coma.<br><br>
