Novak is a former mercenary and current inquisitor. He doesn't particularly believe in the church's dogma, but wants to maintain a peaceful society for the sake of his daughter.

In the fifteenth century, claiming that the Earth revolves around the sun was a heresy that could get believers burned at the stake. Child prodigy Rafal is introduced to the truth about the universe by his mentor, and then must flee when the Inquisition comes to mete out "God's justice." With only a peculiar pendant to guide him, will Rafal discover his master's research, and can he and other believers set the world alight?

The setting is 15th-century Europe. It was a time when heretical ideas lead those to who possessed such a mindset to being burned at the stake for their beliefs. 

The protagonist, Rafał, a child prodigy, is expected to major in theology, the most important subject at the time, at the university where he plans to skip a grade. One day, however, he comes across a mysterious man, and is now studying a possible "truth" in the midst of heretical thought!
