* First appearance: Battle 66 * Type: Sei * Type: Katsujin Ken * Martial Arts: Chinese Kenpo  Ma Ryou, better known as Uncle Hakubi, is the elderly uncle of Kensei and Sougetsu, the grand uncle of Renka, and a master of Chinese martial arts who raised Ryuu Genson and Shokatsu Kouan as his disciples. He is said to be Yokohama Chinatown's most knowledgeable person.  Like his younger nephew Kensei, Hakubi is a balding old man with a mustache, who wears traditional Chinese clothes. Unlike his younger nephew, Hakubi also wears glasses and has a black beard.   Hakubi is a kind old man who stays on good relations with his younger nephew Kensei and takes care of his grand niece Renka. This bond with Renka may be extravagant, however, as he is tricked into spilling Ryozanpaku's location with sake by his grand niece, and upon learning of her disappearance, drinks himself to sorrow and takes out the Chinese Mafia residing in Yokohama in a drunken rage.  His relations with his disciples are unknown, but he seems to trust them enough to let them go to search for Renka and bring her back. In this, he also adds that he considers Ryozanpaku a strange place and warns his disciples to be careful.   His abilities at the Chinese Kenpo are unknown, but he seems to have expertise of the Seven Stars Praying Mantis (Qixing Tanglang Quan) and the Piercing Foot (Chuo Jiao) Styles. His mastery is so powerful that he is able to take out the entire Chinese Mafia in Yokohama Chinatown. It should also be noted that he did this while drinking heavily. 

From wimp to warrior. Sort of… 
 
Yeah, Kenichi’s a total wimp. He’s always getting picked on and doesn’t have a lot of friends to stick up for him. The guy needs motivation if he hopes to graduate in one piece. Well, Miu’s the perfect motivation. She’s hot, she accepts him, and she just so happens to live at a dojo with six martial arts masters. You could say fate has led Kenichi to their door, or you could say he was just following the hottie. Either way, he’s about to get whipped into serious shape. If he can survive some hard-core training, he might survive another day at school. He might even score with Miu. Yeah, you could call Kenichi a wimp. But let’s go with underdog instead.

The story is focused on Kenichi Shirahama, an average 15-year-old weakling, whose life turns to Hell with the appearance of the naive, beautiful, and strong transfer student, Miu Fūrinji. After Kenichi witnesses Miu's skills in martial arts, he joins the Ryōzanpaku dojo, the gathering place of those who are truly strong, which also happens to be Miu's home. After beating a karate student in a match, he is soon targeted by all the delinquents in the school. Since then, Kenichi's routine is divided between his hellish training with the masters of Ryōzanpaku, and his fights against the members of Ragnarok, a gang who views him as either a possible ally or an impending threat to their plans.
