As a young child, Rena was found by her current mother, Westa. Rena knows their is something different about her, because she has mysterious healing powers. When she meets Claude, she believes he is the Hero of the Light, here to save Expel from the Sorcery Globe. Rena joins him on his journey to inspect it, and find out about her past.  

Claude C. Kenni, a crewmember on the spaceship Calnus and son of the commander of the ship, is transported to Expel, a backwards planet with swords and magic. He teams up with Rena Lanford, who thinks he is the legendary Warrior of Light, and other characters to investigate the Sorcery Globe, a meteorite that has been causing problems all over the world.

2003 Tooniverse Voice actor in Korea Rhee Yong Sin (Hangul:이용신) is a Korean voice actor.  She joined the On-Media Voice Acting Division's voice acting division in 2003.

The Star Ocean: The Second Story manga, drawn by Mayumi Azuma, is based upon the Star Ocean: The Second Story video game developed by tri-Ace. It follows the storyline of the game, which follows the exploits of the two protagonists: Claude C. Kenni, a young ensign in the Earth Federation going on his first real mission with his father, and Rena Lanford, a young girl living in the rural village of Arlia on the planet Expel. Star Ocean EX, the anime series that retells the tale of the video game, is based upon this manga. The manga was never translated into English, and can only be found in Japanese.

Star Ocean: Blue Sphere is the sequel to Star Ocean: The Second Story. 
Taking place 2 years after SO2, the Star Ocean characters find themselves on a new adventure. All the characters return (with Chisato and Noel making their first manga appearances), with a new spin, and a new story.

Based on the PSP remake of Star Ocean 2 (Rena's side of the game). 
Rena is a girl living in Expel. From young, she has always believed strongly in the legend of the Warrior of Light and believed that one day he will appear before her. 
Then one day, the Sorcery Globe fell upon the planet of Expel, causing chaos to the planet. One day, Rena met Claude when she was at the Shingo Forest, who had saved her from a monster with a weapon that shoots a dazzling light. 
Rena had believed that Claude was the Warrior of Light in the legend, but Claude had denied it. Despite that, the both of them set off together towards Eluria, where the Sorcery Globe fell, in-order to investigate it, meeting new people and gaining new allies on the way.
