Anne, an imaginative young red-haired girl, is accidentally adopted from an orphanage by a pair of aging siblings who originally wanted a boy to help them work their farm. The happy accident changes everyone's lives for the better.

The story covers Annes' arrival at Green Gables, where she has travelled to to live her new live with the Cuthberts after having been in an orphanage for half a year. Anne, an orphan full of character and imagination, already imagines her wonderful new life and how things will turn better in her life from now on. Unexpectedly, when she arrives at Green Gables, she has to learn that there has been made a fatal mistake as the Cuthberts wanted to adopt a young boy of her age instead. Therefore she has to face another difficult point in her life, whether she'll be able to stay in Green Gables or being sent back to the orphanage. Or even worse,  she might be sent to stay at the house of Mrs. Blewett, an elderly, strict and very intimidating woman. For once, will she be able to overcome even more difficulties and find at least a little bit of kindness and happiness?

Anne is an orphan full of imagination. When she arrives at her new home she learns that sometimes you have to be a sensible person too; at the same time her unique character changes, or at least attracts, the people around her. The story covers Anne's growth from about eleven to seventeen years old as she makes friends, goes to school and studies. At a difficult point in her life, Anne will have to make a hard choice and perhaps find a new dream.

Miss Marilla Cuthbert and Mr. Matthew Cuthbert, middle-aged siblings who live together at Green Gables, a farm in Avonlea, on Prince Edward Island, decide to adopt an orphan boy from the asylum as a helper on their farm. Through a series of mishaps, what ends up under their roof is a precocious girl of eleven named Anne Shirley. Anne is bright and quick, eager to please but dissatisfied with her name, her pale countenance dotted with freckles, and with her long braids of red hair. Being a child of imagination, however, Anne takes much joy in life, and adapts quickly, thriving in the environment of Prince Edward Island.

This is based on the book Anne of Avonlea and it's a sequel to Anne of Green Gables. It follows Anne from the age of 16 to 18, during the two years that she teaches at Avonlea school. Anne discovers the delights and troubles of being a teacher, takes part in the raising of the twins Davy and Dora and organizes the A.V.I.S. (Avonlea Village Improvement Society), which tries to bring improvements to Avonlea with questionable results.


Anne leaves Green Gables and her work as a teacher in Avonlea to continue her education at Redmond College in Nova Scotia. She tucks her memories of rural Avonlea away and discovers life on her own terms, filled with surprises&hellip;including a marriage proposal from the worst fellow imaginable, the sale of her very first story, and a tragedy that teaches her a painful lesson.
